Microsoft Office developer in Word and Powerpoint

It is critical for organisations to be able to control the presentation of important documents such as proposals, bid and tender documents and their customer facing materials, but in a way that is simple to use for staff with a typical understanding of Microsoft Office products.

What we do

  • Build templates in Office 2003, 2007 and 2010 for clients to match client brand guidelines allowing them to present themselves more professionally and free them up to concentrate on the content without worrying about the layout
  • Develop the interface to simplify experience for users

We are one of very few companies working in this niche market and are extremely busy.

We have grown to a size where we need a permanent individual working with us in the office. We use freelancers but would like to be able to offer a more consistent support for our clients.

The job

  • building client templates programming in VBA, Visual Studio and XML
  • helping build modules adding new functionality to Word and PowerPoint
  • updating templates as required by clients
  • fielding client calls

Skills required

  • Programming skills in VBA, Visual basic and XML (ribbon development) to create macros and functionality
  • Understanding the logic and structure of MS Word, particularly creating styles, section breaks, headers and footers and outline numbering
  • Ability to listen to clients and respond to feedback from users
  • Flexibility

We are small and have grown fast in the last couple of years. We care about attention to detail in both the code and the way the templates are set up.

That means creating robust, reliable templates for our clients that deliver real improvements in productivity. Our clients, such as law firms, want to know that our templates will integrate seamlessly with their systems.

We work with a lot of design companies and branding agencies and they are generally amazed that we can deliver documents that match their design layouts. Just as importantly they want to know that we implement their designs precisely and accurately. Millimetres matter to designers.

In the same way it is important to us that our code is, and is recognised to be professional and efficiently written.
